Mark Morris has been a regular and favorite visitor to McCarter since 1987. Fearless with his subject matter, be it sex, despair, havoc or sheer joy, he remains (with Twyla Tharp) the only American choreographer of his generation to have extended the expressive scope of dance as an art form. His is also the only dance company today committed to performing to live music, a feature of every performance, including this one.
The program includes TWO new works receiving their Princeton Premieres, plus Mark Morris’ classic , Grand Duo.
Petrichor: set to the String Quartet No.2 by Villa-Lobos Festival Dance: set to the Hummel Piano Trio No. 5 Grand Duo(1993): Set to music of Lou Harrison
Note: All music played LIVE!
