Singer/songwriter/guitarist Keb’ Mo’ (Kevin Moore) is a living link to the Delta blues, but his own music embraces pop, rock, folk, and jazz, its common thread being the power of song to tell stories and convey human experience with emotional weight. Since breaking through from cult status to headliner with the Grammy-winning Just Like You in 1996, he has picked up a second Grammy for Slow Down, and a third in 2004 for Keep It Simple. His latest release, Suitcase (2006), is yet another showcase for his laconic storytellin’ and gritty country blues, from broadside ballads to lilting odes to love, through mellow folk rags and fiery laments—all delivered with bell-like vocal clarity accompanied by his masterful acoustic and slide guitar playing.
