“It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over twenty years since dancer/choreographer David Parsons left his mentor Paul Taylor to create his own dance company back in 1985. Since then, he has created more than 70 works both for Parsons Dance and host of other companies around the world, and he’s also been a friend I have often welcomed back to McCarter. There’s no dance company I know that audiences enjoy watching more, and this time I asked him to bring a program of some of his—and my—favorites, including Shining Star (set to songs by Earth, Wind & Fire), Swing Shift (music by Kenji Bunch), and Wolfgang (music by Mozart). And what Parsons program would be complete without his signature solo, Caught, which never fails to create an audience sensation regardless of how many times you’ve seen it (even though David himself doesn’t dance it anymore!)” – WWLJr.
